What are Warts?
Warts a common contagious infection in the outer layers of the skin caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). They can spread to other areas of your body and from person to person. Warts are often referred to as verruca, plantar warts and papillomas and are frequently mistaken for other conditions such as corns or callouses. Warts are generally vey difficult to get rid of as they affect the body’s immune system in fighting off the virus.
Diagnosing Warts
A plantar wart can usually be diagnosed by its appearance and/or pinpoint bleeding upon debridement of the hardened skin over the top of the lesion.
